How do I know whether a company's partner is a PEP?
Type the CNPJ in the lookup: the answer checks the partners against the CGU list of politically exposed persons and shows who is on it, with each post, the body, since when and whether in office or in the grace period.
What is a politically exposed person?
Whoever holds, or held in the last five years, an elected office or a senior public post — councillor, mayor, congressman, minister, head of an agency or state company. Anti-money-laundering rules require extra diligence with them and their companies.
How is the partner matched with the list?
By the six middle digits of the CPF, which the CGU and the Federal Revenue both show, and by the full name, letter by letter. The public lookup shows the name abbreviated, like the partners list.
How recent is the list?
From the CGU Transparency Portal, which publishes it every month; the base is checked every day, and the lookup says the month of the list.
Can I check many companies at once?
